wow, this sounds like some kind of big win? If your husband is also looking to take off time and then change career completely, it must have been something life changing.

I hope it wasn't something like an inheritance etc that has given you such good fortune.

Sorry everyone but I went to work after I posted and then I didn't get back home until 8pm.

Unfortunately, the money has come about through unfortunate circumstances due to the death of my son 5 years ago. The debts started to pile up after that as we gave up caring but reality was starting to bite recently.

After my son died, it took 4 years before we discovered that the hospital were to blame and had attempted to hide their mistakes. After less than 12 months of solicitors being instructed, the hospital came to us with an offer which was unheard of in our situation, and a full apology with full addmittance of their negligence. The offer was so good that our solicitor suggested that even an offer at half the amount should have be considered.

Thank you for explaining - it puts everything into perspective and although nothing can make up for the loss of your son, at least you now have a chance at making the most of life for the rest of the family.

I wish you all the very best and am sure you will enjoy whatever you choose to do every day x

Thanks chuckyegg, well done to you and your OH for battling through such a terrible time and now putting the compensation to such good use.

It would have been so easy to have blown the lot.

Whilst we are all envious of your debtfree situation, none of us would swap with you.

    Good luck.
