Council Tax - 2 people, 3 properties

Hi - I am hoping you might come up with a bright idea of how to minimise council tax for a working couple with bills across 3 properties.

Properties as follows:
  • Property A - we privately rent and live in this one
  • Property B - a flat owned by my fiance, which a tenant has recently left. It is currently untenanted, and we will either rent it again or sell it.
  • Property C - we are about to buy this house, but it needs quite a bit of work. We will continue living in Property A for a few months while the builders are in Property C.

Obviously the new rules from 1st April 2013 means we have fewer exemptions / discounts available. The best I can come up with is for us to live separately in Properties A and B and apply for the 25% single person discount.

I am not sure how then they will tax Property C?

Any suggestions? :)
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

The council should, correctly based on what has been posted, refuse the SPD on property B as it is not her 'sole or main residence'
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
