But how can they credit a bank account with one name and address and debt my card in the same loan application ?.I did not think this was possible one person take the money the other gives it back .
Read the BBC link earlier in the thread. Seems that is one of the things that Wonga stupidly allow. Muppets!Still rolling rolling rolling......<

Thanks for the feed back, that was my understanding of it as well. I think Lloyds are taking approach that people are lying and just trying to avoid repayment of debts.Thats how it felt to me.
Seems like it. And, to be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if most of these cases were people trying it on.
Or where people had borrowed money from a sister company.
However, Lloyds shouldn't have said all payday loan companies share payment details. That's clearly wrong. And believe me I told them so many times the things you suggest. And every time I was told this. We cant refund you the money because its not shown on your statement yet , the money is on hold pending transaction.
Ah, it's a pending transaction. That does complicate things a little because the money is, effectively, sitting in no man's land.
If I needed the cash I would probably dig in to an authorised (or unauthorised overdraft if possible) and then argue the case if/when hit by charges.
You shouldn't lose out. Unfortunately these things always seem to happen at weekend and during bank holidays when it's difficult to get them sorted out.0 -

It's two separate transactions. If you gave me your sort code and account number I could pay money in to your bank account. I don't need to know your name, address or debit card details.
Payment is taken by debit card, just like any other transaction such as when you buy something at a supermarket. Tesco don't need to know your name and address or bank sort code and account number.
Two different methods are used because they're the quickest and most convenient for those type of transactions. Unfortunately this does leads to fraud.0 -
It doesn't help that with mobile phones now fitted with NFC chips, a card thief can simply use a free app to scan all the details s/he needs from someones card without them ever knowing until a PDL company starts to deduct money from their account.Never Knowingly Understood.

If you don't want a credit or debit card that's fair enough.
If your purse or wallet is lost or stolen you've probably lost the money in it for good.
Authorised credit and debit cards transactions are refunded.
My Mother refuses to have a credit or debit card and uses cash for everything. Well, her cashpoint card is a debit card, but she refuses to use it as such. Generally, by using cash and not shopping online, she probably wastes quite a lot of money every year. But that's her choice, and your choice is your choice.
Credit and debit card fraud is quite rare. It's just that when someone loses a bunch of £20 notes they probably don't come here and moan about it. And there's not a lot they can do about it anyway.0 -
Well had a long stress free sleep. Trying not to think about this until Tuesday its just stressing me to much .I tweeted Wonga and there boss.Just got told to call the number.
I just think Wonga need to acknowledge that they have a major problem and refund people asap. Instead of a office with no fax machine and staff who have no power to do anything. They would not even send a fax so I could get my money back today .
Take a look at there twitter it seems to have at least 3 people a day on it saying the same thing as me. Now that's just the ones that use twitter its the tip of the ice berg.My ID is tearsintherain on there.
They just tell every one to ring the office and no fraud staff work weekend just customer service. Check Wongajames on twitter
I just want to clear my mind and try to relax ,
Thanks for the feedback and advice its been great0 -
I'm amazed you were able to speak to anybody at Wonga...I didn't manage that! but I have to say Lloyds TSB were great with me. I rang to report the withdrawals on Saturday morning and the money was back in my by yesterday, even with it being the bank holiday.
Are you getting a new debit card? The bank have cancelled mine and are sending me a new one so it will have different expiry date, security number etc. And in the meantime I'm watching my bank account like a hawk0
