DMP with DFH!!!!

Hi all,
I have had a DMP with DFH for a year now that is costing £200pcm £170 of this is going to creditors with the other £30 going to DFH for admin. After reading a few posts on this site I have since discovered I am being conned due to there being companies who will help without the admin charge.
Could someone please give me advice on how to cancel with DFH and how to go about entering a free DMP or how to go it alone?
Thanks in advance.

Write to them and tell them you want to cancel the DMP and move to a free DMP provider like Payplan, StepChange or Christians Against Poverty .
DFH will tell you all sorts of horror stories about how your creditors wont like this and will start charging you extortionate rates of interest - ignore them and tell your creditors that you are changing DMP providers.
Hope this helps.0 -
Yes the vultures have got their claws into you.
You need to look at your agreement and see what the cancellation terms are, maybe one month.
Then look here.

When you do cancel then send the cancellaton in writing, recorded delivery. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
Agreed. Ditch them, via signed for letter then make sure you cancel the payment after the required time or they might try and take more payments.:beer:0

I was with DFH too and wrote to them to cancel my plan. I am now on a self managed DMP.
DFH will constantly call you and write to you to get you to change your mind, stand your ground with them and tell them you still want to cancel. When I did this they slammed the phone down me.
Oh and remember to cancel your Standing Order to them.0 -
Thanks to all of you for your responses. It's nice to know there are still helpful people out there...
I will write a letter to DFH to cancel my agreement although I don't have a standing order as such it's set up as a continious card payment so will that automatically stop upon cancellation? Also am I better to try and handle a self managed DMP or will I be better off going through a free company?

In your letter to them, tell them you alo revoke your CPA. Send signed for.
Also, ring your and ad cancel the CPA to DFH. They must do this, even if they say they can't. Then follow up with your bank, in writing, signed for.:beer:0 -

Hi and welcome!
If I were you I would speak to a couple of free DMP companies, i.e. Payplan and get some advice. You are not obligated to go with them, remember they are FREE. You can then decide whether to do the DMP yourself or not. Really depends on whether you want to deal with the creditors yourself or want someone to manage this for you really.
Best of luck
