Earning £1000 in Tesco club card points

Hey folks,

Well I've recently used my tesco clubcard points and have a lovely Breitling to show for it.

So here we go again the quest for £1000 tesco points, I'd love some input.

Obviously I will earn points on my weekly shop and petrol.
But where can I earn the "real" bonus points.

Already planning to buy 100 ink catridges worth £300 goldsmith vouchers for approx £70 on ebay... But struggling to source the required envelopse from the recycle site.

Also have opportunity to convert £50 from top cash back.

Noticed I can buy two inks for £7.50 each and get 500 bonus points at the mo but that's not really ideal as I don't need the inks and I'm effectively getting a £1 for a £1 as the ink have little resale and are no good to me...

Also seen a few decent bonuses for signing up to life insurances etc... Your views..

The real bonus comes from ditching Tesco altogether for groceries and switching to Aldi or Lidl.

Bank the savings of around 25-30% for pretty well exactly the same items, produced in the same factories, and you'll find your £1000 mounts up far more quickly than with Clubcard points.

I can personally vouch for that, too. Used to collect them, but it's become more and more difficult to get real 'value' out of them over recent years - mainly because when you use them you frequently pay an unreal price for the item. Holidays in particular, but applies to pretty much every deal they do, apart from the double value specials where you can buy ordinary items instore.

I disagree, I'm nearer Tesco, tesco sell everything I require, I shop very carefully for groceries etc, lidl and aldi combined do not have everything I require, and I agree certain things are spot on but a lot aren't . The sheer travelling to elsewhere and time still makes tesco hands down cheaper. With regards to bonuses yes they are not like the "good ol' days" but by keeping an eye out on bonuses you can still rack some serious points up, e.g 500points for preorders etc etc. further more tesco price match near me so on such things as t.vs I get the best price with 600-700points to boot.

Only if you are lucky enough to live close enough to one.

It would be great if Aldi and Lidl opened after 9pm, then they may stand a chance at being called "competition". Not ventured into a store for about 5 years because I am never able to go shopping before 11pm!

They don't have an online site, they don't offer trolleys (I don't have one- or a car) and I hope they did clean up the fruit and veg since I visited the store as there were black flies and mould on the produce. When this is the bulk of my diet I was pretty put off. Would be great if this was fixed but even if it was, there is no chance of getting to a store until they open later.

I think you might be surprised at how much Aldi and Lidl have improved over the last 5 years (and how much worse Tesco has become).

The recent Which? report on supermarkets rated them as follows:

We find the perfect combination to be Aldi and Waitrose. Most things come from Aldi, with the occasional trip to Waitrose for top-ups. There's very little that Aldi don't sell these days, the quality's fine, and it's a much nicer place to shop than the rather downmarket Tesco 'superstore' right next to it. A quick look at the cars in the two car parks tells an awful lot about the sort of customers they get!

Personally I shop at both Aldi and Tesco. I cycle the 4 miles to Aldi so I am not losing what I save by spending petrol and I pick up fruit and veg when on Super 6. Hwever other thngs are often a lot dearer than tesco. I buy things at tesco when they're on offer and for the last few weeks have had a £5 off a £40 shop till spit AND a £4 off £40 shop I was sent in the post. So have had £9 off £40 plus a double points coupon to use. Plus I had various other coupons sent in the post. I also use Asda for some things(I cycle there too!) I am also often to be seen at "reduction" time!

I would be weary about the ink recycling cartridges as they can be very picky over what they take. I have sent some in which were official HP cartridges on the list which when run out were taken straight from my printer and sent off. A few have come back "not met the quality control standards". They keep the ink cartridge - so do they really throw them??????

When you request an envelope off them its takes about 3 weeks to arrive. I found larger Tesco stores stock them next to where they sell the ink cartridges and you can take a bundle.
