Fitness first price increase

Hi All,

I've been a member at this gym for over a year, when I joined they were running a £14.95pcm membership for a year. I thought BARGAIN, didn't expect much for my£14.95 as I have a personal trainer who works out of this particular gym, I used the facilities for a while but due to cleanliness/hygiene issues I stopped. I still use this gym 6 days a week and go to my other gym (David Lloyds) in the evenings.

Below is a copy of my letter that I've written to FF Head office as I feel I (we) customers are getting a bad deal, my letter will explain. What do you guys think, am I being unreasonable? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I've received a letter from yourselves increasing my membership. How can you possibly justify this increase? The facilities at this branch are seriously lacking, and below i wish to highlight the catalogue of issues:

The showers are constantly not working, today (6th April 2013) there was no water, at other times there is no hot water. There are too many instances to name when there has either been no hot water or no water at all.

The drainage in the sauna/steam area smell and make it impossible to enjoy a supposedly relaxing steam/sauna. The cleaners try their best, but Im pretty sure its a drainage/sewage problem.

When equipment breaks it will stay broken for weeks on end. I challenge management to walk in on ANY day and I will guarantee there will be broken equipment, which will undoubtedly stay broken for weeks, if not months on end.

There are some wheelchair clients who have no wheelchair facilities (how can they get inside they gym with no ramp access)?? Wheelchair users can only gain access if someone is on hand to lift them up onto the pavement and to open the doors.

The doors to the gym are difficult to open. The door directly facing the ice rink parking lot, i.e.not the door facing the block of flats is very difficult to open. On snowy days FF has not managed to clear the path/entrance for their customers!

In the boxing room, the hanging bag racks have been ripped and have yet to be replaced. Currently they have been left on the floor and have been there for the last 4 weeks (and counting!).

On the few occasions I've had the misfortune of being in the gym when a deep clean needs to be done in the men's changing rooms, these changing rooms have been REPULSIVE. Many of my male gym companions constantly complain about the cleanliness and the broken showers and lockers. On one particular occasion there was only ONE shower working! When I mentioned this to my male friends they informed me this was a regular occurrence in the changing rooms!

Most of the staff at the gym try to be helpful but there's no point in having a go at them as major decisions regarding the gym are made from Head Office. Natasha is a great Fitness Instructor/Manager, Joy Williams the cleaner keeps the ladies changing rooms clean and these two ladies are a real asset to the gym. However I do not know who the manager of this gym is? All the above issues have been repeatedly raised but as I say all major decisions are made from Head Office and Head Office seems to be clueless as to the state of this branch as they could not reasonably justify an increase in memberships.

I look forward to receiving a reply from FF management (Head Office) on how you can possibly justify the increase? If I do not receive a suitable response within 14 working days from the date of this email, I will be contacting the OFT and media as I feel I (we) are being unfairly treated by FF.

Regards,
