Hello all, first time poster in this part of the forum.
I am embarking on a self-build, with the footings now done, I need to decide what is going to heat.
It has gone through the planning stage with a multi-fuel stove and a oil boiler.
Now the sap-calc has come back and it will fail with those and we need solar thermal to make it pass, the sap-calc guy has reccomended 2*Heliostar s4 flat plate panels.
Do you recommend these panels, or are there any alternative as it's minefield for a newbie like me.
I'm in south Angelsey if that helps. Plenty of roofspace to palce panels - is south facing the best?
Also could you recommend a thermal store that can acommodate solar, oil boiler and the stove heating up the water - it might also need to feed the radiators as we are not having under-floor put in.
What's the difference between open vent/closed thermal stores?
Thanks for your replies in advance!
