RSA Equivalent Qualifications?

In 1993/1994 I took 11 RSA qualifications on a 2 year secretarial course at college after leaving school and understood at the time they were the equivalent to a BTEC or NVQ as a pre-vocational qualification... At the time, the new "in thing"!!

I have applied for a job which requires 5 GCSEs graded A-C or equivalent qualifications. I only have 3 GCSEs A-C and understood at least 6 of my 11 (Stage II and III) RSA qualifications would be more than enough to cover the other two required equivalents... However, the prospective employer has disregarded them all, saying Stage II is not the same as a Level II qualification even and I have now missed out on the final interview after completing all but one (which they wouldn't let me take after disregarding my RSAs) the required assessments and passing them.

Does anyone know where I can get some sort of written clarification to go back to them with?

RSA (Royal Society of Arts) is now part of OCR (Oxford, Cambridge & RSA).

I suggest you contact them and state exactly what the 11 certificates cover and ask their advice about whether they should be regarded as a Level 2 qualification.

Given that you received the RSA certificates two decades ago, I am surprised that an employer is that interested rather than in what level of work you have been doing since then. Or perhaps you have been out of the labour market for some years?
