Healthy Eating while working away

I'm working away from home 3 days a week and getting fed up with eating out all the time!
I only have access to a kettle in my hotel room and am looking for some food ideas for dinner.
Thanks

Do you have a cool bag? Can you do picnic type food, sandwiches, pasties, fruit etc? If you take them not made up they should be fine, just take something to make them on. Cheese and crackers, would go well too.
If really in need of eating in your room then there is always, instant mash, pot noodles, cup of soups etc, although not the healthiest!0 -

Could it not be possible to find another hotel with a mini fridge or something?Save 12k in 2015 challenger NO.128 £0.00/£8000

I have access to a fridge and so far I've thought of:
rice, chicken and salad
cup a soup
But after a few weeks that would get a bit boring!0 -
Could you make a pasta salad before going and keep that in the fridge, or a potato salad have those with a salad.
You could cook meat, new potatoes in advance and take them with some salad to change it up a bit each day.
How do you feel about cold soups like these?
Maybe a poughmans lunch?0 -
My OH works away a lot, and has the same problem. If you are regularly going for 3 days to the same area, you can sometimes get cheap deals at self-catering properties, which work out cheaper than hotels and have the advantage of being more 'homey' - and you can do your own cooking!! These deals are normally just over the winter months, so it might not be possible at this time of the year.
Alternatively, if it's a half-decent hotel, they should be able to rustle up a fresh fruit salad as an alternative to their normal puds, even if it's not on the menu - that would be better than nothing!!No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
I agree Kacie. If you can prepare pasta or potato salad, then it will be a better option for you. The cold soups are also an excellent option and you can try that out as well.0

If you have access to the small fridge then you are doing very well as the weather gets warmer. Cold meat and simple salads, a selection of raw veg with a dip like taramasalata or houmous, the makings for a roll or bit of baguette filled with delicious fresh healthy things.0

You can make couscous fresh if you have hot water and take along some bits and pieces to add to it.0
