Can you please give your opinion on this -

Is all 'stuffing envelopes' home based work a scam?

If not, how can you find out which ones are the genuine ones?

I would assume that it is safer to say yes to that question. Machines can stuff envelopes far quicker than humans and they don't need breaks or wages.

So any offer of work stuffing envelopes is likely to be a scam.

Having said that, last year I had an interview for a job with a company that "cleaned up" databases and did all manner of things with databases. During the interview I was asked if I would mind stuffing envelopes occasionally, as sometimes clients asked them to do a mail shot. As they did not have a machine to do this everyone in the company (a small one) mucked in to get the job done.

So there still are companies who do it by hand. But I suspect they are ones that only do it occasionally, so can't justify buying a machine to do it. They won't employ people to do it, just expect everyone to muck in as and when it's needed.
