Triple Points at Tesco Direct and Tesco.com

What's the deal?

Tesco Direct* is offering triple points on all items bought on Tesco Direct and some at Tesco.com which includes books, games, DVDs and the following:
  • Computing & Home
  • Home Electrical
  • Sound & Vision
  • Furniture
  • House & Home
  • DIY, Car & Garden
  • Sports and Leisure
  • Baby & Toddler
  • Toys & Game
For every £1 you spend at Tesco you get 1 clubcard but until 28 May, you'll get 3 points per £1. Use these as money off in store and they're worth a paltry 3%, yet convert them to clubcard deals vouchers and they're worth four times the amount - effectively a 12% discount.

For more tricks to improve your stash of Tesco and other loyalty points read Loyalty Schemes.

Anything to watch for?

It's worth doing a quick price check particularly for expensive items to ensure you can't get the item cheaper elsewhere. The big ones to check are Kelkoo*, Pricerunner* and Shopping.com*.

* Using these links helps the site stay ad-free and free to use, as they’re ‘affiliated links’ which invisibly take you via commercial price comparison services like Moneysupermarket or Find, which then pay this site per click

You shouldn’t notice any difference, the links don’t impact the product at all and the editorial line (the things I write) is NEVER impacted by the revenue. If it isn’t possible to get an affiliate link for the best product, it is still recommended and still included. The following tesco.com, kelkoo.com, pricerunner.co.uk and shopping.com are identical unaffiliated links provided for the sake of transparency. • A cautionary note for anyone claiming bonus points from Tesco's - keep an eye on your quarterly statements to make sure they pay them to you!!

My husband and I have both had problems getting the points credited. His query was sorted in time for the next quarterly statement, whereas mine has taken a whole year (4 statements later) for the extra 1,000 points due to be credited. Even then Tesco's response seems to be that they don't necessarily believe me that I'm owed them, but as I've pestered them for 12 months they'll give them to me to shut me up. I received no apology or recompense for the time and trouble taken to get the points.

We're of the opinion that Tesco hope that with the statements being quarterly, customers will forget that they are owed the extra points. Their initial response to both of us being that the points had missed the current statement and would be on the NEXT statement (i.e. another 3 months away, giving Tesco another chance for you to forget by the time of the next statement).

All in all we've been put off using their bonus points schemes in future:mad:

I completely agree. It took me more half a year and threats of court action before they credited me with points from an internet phone promotion. And I know other people who also did not receive their points.

    Very dodgy company ...
