Company Car help please!

Ok, so first time where i have actually had a choice on a company car.
I am finding this a nightmare:D
So, i have up to £320 per month to spend which must include maintenance and be based on 3 x 20000.
So my questions are as follows:
Is there are simple way of going about finding my ideal car or at least some way which narrows my list down (quite aware that personal preference is going to come in to play but at this stage more looking at the sensible tax options)
Secondly, confused on the optional extras front. I understand that if i chose some extras, that would increase the P11D value, but what confused me is is i chose a car which for example is a "Business" edition and already has, say Sat Nav, I presume that makes more sense than having a basic version and then adding Sat Nav.
Am I being a dumb a**??

So any assistance would be massively appreciated, best way of getting a list, car choices, etc..

Cheers all

I would have thought you'd be better getting a car that includes all the toys you need as standard, as extra bits do add to your p11d.

may I suggest looking at the Seat Leon Mk3 FR - beautiful car (same as the new Golf/Audi A3 underneath but much cheaper), has all the toys, inc LED lights/Sat Nav/very economical engines etc plus well within your budget.

    Hi

Is your question regarding how much income tax you have to pay? I assume so but you have not referred to this specifically. Does the £320 include the cost of fuel?

The £320 is not inclusive of fuel....

I presume you are talking about a lease car rather than a purchase.

If so, would you not be best going to a lease company and asking what you can get for £320 (based on 20k miles a year and including maintenance)?

You can then look at the personal tax costs of each and decide.

    Yep,I could do...
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.
However,I just wondered if there were company car aficionados that could give me some pointers... .

Before I write a response, please can you confirm if you are one a or b

A - company car scheme, your company pays for a car, including all its maintenance, and you have a budget of £320 to use to select from the company car provider, such as leaseplann

B - car ALLOWANCE , you are paid £320 by the company to purchase and run your own car...

Then I can let you know the tax situation, as they are very different

    What are your colleagues driving.

I always find that if you ask around you will find one car geek, who has test driven every option, one spreadsheet geek who has all the costs and tax implications worked out on every alternative and both will be more than happy telling you what the best choices were and why.

Remember your needs may be different to them but in my experience most companies tend to go through trends where one model every year seems very prolific in the car park before falling back the next year when another model takes over.
