Thanks cheesewright. I'll wait with baited breath to see if your problems are overcome0

the gromit on the back of the mincer is rigid, and it either this , or the fit of this part to the body of the machine that means it leaks juices backwards into the machine itself
and the machine cannot force the pasta dough through the dies supplied it manages a very very......very slow tiny amout - then the dough got so hot from being forced around, rather than out, that it was ruined
the company were brilliant and sent new parts out but thesame problem occured - however they have offered to replace whole machine , this is why I dont know if its just my machine or a general design fault -
other things...
the dough hook is interesting as the dough basicly ends up manteling the hook and going for a merry go round ride - but it does come out well mixed and with good stretch - so this is not what I'm used to - but ok and it does make the machine hop around a bit despite the suckers underneath I was a little concerned at first but you can tell its a powerful machine as it didnt slow or grind gears even slightly in any task and I'm not inclined to nurse these things along
I havn't tried the liquidiser or whisk yet
I will say the company have been keen to solve this for me - which is lovely..as will be disapointed if i have to look for another one.
so as I said I'll have to see.... might have a go with the other bits tomorrow before it goes back..Fight Back - Be Happy0 -
Just to let you all know I have purchased the mixer with mincer attachment. I will try to put it through its paces this weekend and keep you updated as I do
Cheers,

Mines all package up and waiting to go back
final list of problems
the grinder forces meat juices and dough backwards
the pasta maker dosnt work at all - no matter how i made the dough
the mincer minces - but oozes blood into uncleanable parts of the machine
the dough hook works - oddly - but may well break the machine at some point
none of the mixing attachments come close enough to the side of the bowl
the lifting mechanism for the top of the machine sticks when half way open...and so on
I never used the liquidiser - but I also couldnt get it to come apart to clean it - so I dont feel deprived...
I really hope you like it better than I did KevinFight Back - Be Happy0 -
Hi cheesewright,
From your description it sounds like you have the multifunction mixer. That's not the one I have ordered. The one I linked to above is the larger version (7L) and looks to be better made than the multifunction version; the reviews are better too.
I will update the thread when I receive mine and have a chance to test it.

that one does look interesting - but I could not bring myself to buy something else from them - after so many problems and phonecalls with the first one- if something on it didnt work I might be too embarassed to complain !
I've decided to go a different route....and bought myself one of these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Puregadgets-Professional-Artisan-Electric-Kitchen/dp/B00AUV1WYC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1365580641&sr=8-4&keywords=artisan+food+mixers
It is an obvious rip off - but with a direct drive motor - and with a metal body may well not throw itself off the kitchen counter - which is usually how my food mixers commit suicide..
and the fact that it looks sooo much like the "snob value" mixer has made me laugh all day...
let us know how you get on with yours - I'd love to know if all those programms work !
on another note has anybody seen the Cooking Chef from kenwood
OH and I spent an entertaining 10 mins trying to think of recipies you could cook in it....For aroud £800 mind you
we only got - risotto - scrambled egg - stew - if you dont mind it beaten up a bit.....and soup.......that was it...
they dont even have any recipes on their own site....I think they may have lost it a little:rotfl:Fight Back - Be Happy0 -
Friend of mine has one - she makes enormous batches of cake mix so loves the large capacity. However, hers exploded after about 2 years on pancake day. AJ were very good and replaced it with a newer model.
I'm sticking with my kitchenaid though.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Quick update...
I bought the mixer last Sunday and it was delivered on Tuesday. Brilliant service!
Of course, I got it out and had a look and it looked really good. I had to fight the urge to invent things to bake so I could use it...
This morning, however, I made this loaf and used the machine. It was easily able to cope with the kneading on full speed. The machine did wobble about a bit but did NOT move from it's spot on the worktop thanks to the suction fittings. It is fairly noisy but not quite as bad as my old Kenwood.
The loaf was delicious and rose wonderfully so I can only assume the machine did a very good job!
I'll keep you updated as/when I use it for other things...
