London and Country Mortage Brokers

Does anyone know approximately how long it should take the London and Country Mortgage brokers to find a suitable mortage for you in the first instance?
I had a long conversation with one of their advisers yesterday and have not heard anything yet. I have had my offer accepted on a property and the estate agent says the seller wants proof of mortgage within a couple of days, before they are willing to take the house off the market.

I went through a comparison website and ended up with a contact number to call these people eight days ago ago. On the phone they agreed the mortgage I had found should fit and emailed me documents. I Posted proof of earnings docs on the day, they were returned immediately after Easter.
Yesterday they emailed to confirm that full docs have been submitted to the lender. Obviously I have not had a decision yet but there service seems fine to me.0 -
During your long conversation with them did they not tell you timescales? Did you ask? Are they aware that you want an answer quickly?0

It is a hard call as you sometimes get what you pay for and in this instance it is free.
Lot of feedback on here suggests differing experiences based upon the advisor that picks up the phone.
I would call and ask..

Interesting. How did they verify your ID when they haven't seen you in person? Just curious how this remote processing works0 -
Typically they need 3 forms of ID and the actual documents need to be sent in...I am a Mortgage Broker

Sorry. My question was more about how can a broker say a true likeness to the client when they have never met them.0

Differing verification rules.
Same as National Solicitors completing a sale or purchase without meeting the client. I think they call it hands off, arms length or something similar.I am a Mortgage Broker

Solicitors use Electronic ID to meet JMSLG as well as having the documents on file. Brokers don't do this.
I know Halifax ask for the ID to be verified as a likeness so wondered how L&C got round this0 -
I do love the fact you ask a question you think you know the answer to.
Brokers do use these systems, L&C being one.I am a Mortgage Broker
