Thanks all, I have spoken to him.. ok, mostly shouted at him :( have calmed down considerably since finding out on Fri. He will be going to the courts this morning and filling in the form plus detailing his income and expenditure to stop the baliff action... at least I hope he is as he was supposed to do this yesterday.

I have been suspicious for a while but he refused to talk to me about it, so only realised the extent of the problem on Fri. Normally, I would leap in to bail him out (big sister syndrome and all that) but I think he needs to sort this out himself...

i have found County court bailffs on the whole nice and yes they do give people the forms to complete, they useually have a stash of them when they go out and tell people to complete them so they (they bailff) doesnt have to come again.

In general they are paid a salary and not commission unlike the private bailiffs and so are more interested in resolving the issue and not collecting goods

Dont let them in but i doubt you will have problems, it probably is the bailff being nice.

Woohoo, the lady wasnt being shifty, forms just arrived. Really nice actually :) Didnt let her in (was in the front garden keeping myself occupied while waiting for hospital bed to free up - long story!) but she went through everything with me and explained the debt is now over 18months old :o He's been given till 25th April to drop the forms off at the Bolton County Court, 'course, silly sod left his mobile at home charging and is probably picking up same forms at the court today lol Thanks everyone for your help with this :D
