Separated from husband getting mortgage in my name

Hi I am new here so i am sorry if this is in the wrong forum. My husband and I separated 8 months ago after 19 years. The house I live in we bought 15 years ago with a deposit from my dad. The house and mortgage is in his name only( bad advice given many years ago another story). He does not want the house and would be happy to give it to me. I am paying the mortgage. I understand he could possibly ask the mortgage company to transfer it to my name but that is not very likley. I am going to make an appointment with a mortgage advisor to see if I can get a mortgage again unlikely as my husband did not manage our money very well and I now have a bad credit history. I have checked my history with experien who's customer service told me it was not to bad, but I still got turned down for an application I made to pay monthly for a student bus pass.
I have registered home rights with the land registry. If I can get a mortgage does it just have to be for the outstanding amount? What other cost are involved?
Is there anything else I can do or anything I have not thought of?
Just for information I have two children who live with me one 18 and one 16 who are in full time education.

In all honesty there are so many inter-relating queries in your post that to save time and a lot of forum conjecture make an appointment with a mortgage broker/adviser. You can discuss everything in a single conversation/meeting and all options explored. Good luck.0

Firstly, get your Experian, Equifax and Call Credit reports and worth getting some legal advice.
As stated, this will be a complicated process unfortunately and your options will be dependent upon how bad the credit is.
