My first (tiny) steps

Hi everyone, just a quick update to thank everyone.

Some of you may of read my earlier posts about being homeless, drowning in debt and basically having a rather bleak outlook. Some of you may not but regardless those of you who responded were kind, encouraging and completely non-judgemental, in a way you changed my perception of all the mean people I was assuming I was surrounded by (paranoia is a terrible thing)

Anyway, I have my tenancy in place, and, because its sorted my friends mother has offered for me to stay with her for a couple of weeks to make it easier for the main work to be done. Landlord is also giving me my first month rent free if I go round and clear up after the workmen finish each night and help with the more simple odd jobs (and still offering the reduced price for doing the decorating/allowing access regularly until its finished)

On top of that, i know this is tiny but . . . I made my first £25 payment towards my debts this week!

£25 may not put a dent into nearly 17K but its the first time it has reduced at all in YEARS! So im feeling quite positive and motivated.

Hope everyone else is making steady progress and I look forward to getting to know you all, I can see myself becoming a regular poster here!
Debt free = [STRIKE]never in this lifetime (Just joined and still adding up what I owe)[/STRIKE] :(

Just totalled up . . . [STRIKE]£16,880.79[/STRIKE] £16,855.79, so possibly debt free in this lifetime after all :j

I've not read your original post, but will go look in a minute - but just wanted to say well done :T the first 'tiny' steps are the important ones.

I'm really pleased you have got a tenancy sorted and again, well done for negotiating what you have done with your landlord.

My debts are HUGE and I'm only just starting out - but like you and many others... I just glad I'm getting my debts sorted out.

Enjoy the rest of you day :)

Finding somewhere to live must be such a nice feeling, also knowing that you have support around and are working towards making things better for yourself. Congratulations and remember this feeling as it will help later on xxxx
