Interesting Job Advert

I found this job advert on UJ today - I'm sure it's perfectly legal, etc. but it reminds me of another job advertised on the site where you'd basically be writing essays for a company who then sells them to students to 'help' them in their studies.
Writing Un Limited
Writing Assistant
Job description
Flexible Part-time, short term writing assistant required to help with the completion of a novel.
Primary responsibilities will be to provide brainstorming to assist with plot and character development and documenting the results of that.
Plots and story lines will be complex, emotional and morally challenging. Candidates must be comfortable discussing socially taboo topics. Ideally this will be contrasted by the candidate's high sense of morality.
Candidate should be well read, with excellent English language comprehension. Ideally studying towards, or having an English Literature degree (though this is not critical)

Sounds interesting, but there might be some catches. I would be careful about applying for such a job.0

Sounds perfectly legal and legit, as you say. The main catches may be that you'd need to submit ownership of any creative ideas you come up with to them; the best part of the book could be your idea but the writer would be solely credited and have full rights. I'm assuming you'd earn a set amount, regardless of any success the novel might have too?
It does sound interesting, though, and of you're into creative writing that could be a useful peek into how the writing and publishing industries work.If music be the food of love, play on :beer:0 -

For a start it is not a legitimate limited company in this country. Using "Limited" in its name suggests it is - especially given the space after "Un".
It seems exploitative to me - someone getting kicks out of getting a morally upright person to discuss normally socially unacceptable topics. Therein lies an idea for a novel or research project - how far can you push someone along the road.0 -
If only it hadn't said the bit about 'ideally this will be contrasted by the candidate's high sense of morality'! It kind of suggests that it would be ideal if you were a moral person, but not essential.
I would consider assisting somebody to write a novel but I'm not sure how usual it is to have to do the brainstorming as well.0
