5 Year Anniversary

Well, yesterday was my 5 year BR anniversary so I am now officially on the 12 month countdown until BR falls off my credit files!!
As I have said many times before I really could not have gotten through my bankruptcy without the help and infinite knowledge on this board. I prepared myself for several months before BR and read, read and read on this forum so that I would know what would happend and what to expect at every stage. I must say this really took the fear out of my BR and I must thank everyone again, many of whom no longer post on here - but many still do! :T
On the whole the 5 years has passed quite easily and I have had a couple of really good jobs along the way. I am now however back on the job market and am finding it a bit difficult to find a new job but at least I know the only money I have to find is for my current living expenses as I don't have any other debt.
If you are just starting out on your own BR journey the one bit of advice I would give is to read every thread on this forum and ask as many questions as you need to - knowledge is power!

Well done, almost there ! Have you checked your credit file ?
I made the mistake of waiting for the whole six years before I checked mine. I expected it to be clear - it wasn`t. One of my creditors had registered a default against me some months after my BR. So I had to wait a few extra months before I finally got my all clear. I wish now that I had checked it sooner,
Well worth the two pounds to Experian - or whoever.0 -
Yes, I have checked my credit file and cleaned most of it up. There were 3 CCJs entered just after my BR which I was successful in removing 2 of them, the 3rd one I have to pay the court to remove it so will just leave it as it is only 3 weeks after my BR date. I also have one or two defaults showing just outside of my BR that I will also leave, again, they are only a couple of weeks after my BR. I did try to get everything in order and managed to get all the other defaults corrected but these couple are proving too much hassle for the sake of a couple of weeks.

I was discharged June 2010 so quite a way to go before I am "clean" but I will always be thankful for all the help and advice I got on here. It made the "ride" a lot smoother.CONFUCIUS HE SAYS ......“he who will not economise will have to agonise”0

Kaiser Bill, I got a credit report not long after discharge but it showed nothing at all not even my bankruptcy, I always wondered why? Would there be a reason for this?CONFUCIUS HE SAYS ......“he who will not economise will have to agonise”0

verychattyeve,
this does happen a few times, often it is becuase the address you had as your bankruptcy yiu have failed to give when getting your credit reports, or there is a slight difference in your entered address and the ones given by the insolvency service, the bad news is that why you may not see it the people searching it will probably see it.
It may also just be that the IS is a bit behind in uploading the data.
Normally when people repost it is becuase of these reasons and eventually they see it.

Not sure, but this does seem to happen sometimes. Did you get a copy of your credit file from all three agencies ?0 -

Kaiser Bill, No i just got one from Experian, I will try them all again. It might be that I have moved 6 times in 9 years which doesn't help! Hopefully I can unpack this time!CONFUCIUS HE SAYS ......“he who will not economise will have to agonise”0
