Have you discovered yet what reason they had for deducting over £30 from only £150. Were they paying any fees for you or anything else similar. I can't see what else it could be if it wasn't tax, unless it was tax but only at 20% when you should have been paying 40%, although I would have thought that HMRC would have said that in their letter.0

@patanne not yet, they're evading my calls (by not calling back) and not responding to my emails. I'm going to speak to HMRC in the meantime and ask them whether they've addressed this issue with the employer, because someone else has messed up here as well - it's not just me! I'll keep you posted.0

Finally got through to the employer, they changed pay roll software around this time and have said that the only records they have for me around this time are the P60 they sent. They have no pay slips, no statements of what they paid me, no rate of pay - nothing.
Where does this leave me?0
