Replacement P45 From Job centre needed

Received a letter from tax man saying my son owes them approx £300.00. He was only getting job seekers allowance for 3 months. We have phoned them & informed them about this but they want his p45. Of course unable to find it. How does he go about getting another one?
He phoned his local job centre who told him he needed to contact the "job centre processing department" He was on phone yesterday for 20 minutes on a 0845 number and couldn't get through. Tax man has made a mistake but he now has to jump through rings to prove he doesn't owe this money.
Any help contact numbers which aren't 0845 etc would be most welcome.

You can't get a replacement P45, however the Jobcentre will send a copy (electronically) to HMRC at the same time as issuing the one to you.0

Hi, according to HMRC yesterday he needs to phone JSA processing centre for copy of his p45. He has p60 from job he started after JSA which says other employment £685 which was JSA but doesn't say "JSA" HMRC are saying he earned £2100 from JSA in 3 months which is a load of b******s  Who on earth earns that on JSA? I know my son didn't.
I forgot to add, this is going back to 2011.0 -
Ok just been on phone to HMRC who told me to contact local job centre asking asking for these details below.
Please send computer print out of Tax details enquiry screen JA509529 ending April 2012. Stamp it with Job centre office stamp.
Done that and they said I had to contact Job centre procesing centre. I have asked for a call back as I was on phone yesterday for 20-30 minutes on a 0845 number.
I also asked HMRC where they got the figure from. His reply was the computer estimated the figure. From the tone of his voice my son isn't the only person to receive a letter. If you get one check it out.0
