How to Avoid 'The Gym' Joining fee

Options
If you want to join 'The Gym' (theGymGroup) joining fee and just pay the monthly fee as normal.

Sign up with the group, then cancel the next day.
Make sure to inform them that you wish to cancel (very important) and cancel the direct debit with your bank (very important as they wont)

Then wait and check your email.

You will recive offers from 'The Gym' to rejoin without having to pay the joining fee

eg 'Rejoin by midnight and you wont have to pay the £20 fee or Rejoin by such and such date and avoid the joining fee'

nice. thanks for your advice. Does gym allow signing up with the group?
  • Puregym offer an option to freeze your membership for ~£3 per month (say you are going away on holiday etc), BUT if you cancel your membership and log-back in later, you can rejoin for free.

Equally, if you get sick of the place, cancel, pile on the pounds and want to rejoin, simply log back in to the members section and you can rejoin for free.

The other option is buy a day pass (£6.99), wait a week and they'll likely send you an email with a joining-fee free offer.
  • Join a council gym. They don't have fees other than monthly DD.
