Hi.
I am with Chuckley on this. If the weather permits then get out and walk around for a while if you can. This is good for body and mind.
Many years ago I worked for a company where we had the same problem and my M.D. told me that if I was in the office then I was 'expected' to answer the phone. So I went out instead, but I did have my car so it was not a problem if the weather was bad.
We ended up agreeing to stagger our lunchbreaks so that the phones could be answered, but as far as I was concerned leaving the building was the best thing to do. Always felt more refreshed for the afternoon session.0 -
If it's an internal call, just say you'll call them back, problem solved.0

I eat my lunch at my desk and will answer the phone if it rings. I really dont see a problem with it.
If your not happy with answering the phone during your lunch, then move away from your desk. Simple

I used to just unplug my phone for half an hour or turn the ringer off. If the phone was unplugged an incoming call would be bounced to the next extension on our call network. But it depended. If it was a crazy busy day and my lunch was already late, then I'd unplug the phone for 20 minutes or so just to make sure i got a break. If it looked like I might be able to make up my break later I'd leave it plugged in and answer it if it rang. But then my employer was a bit more relaxed about when we took our breaks and encouraged us to stagger them so someone was always available.current debt as at 10/01/11- £12500
