As a couple with children you need to be working at least 24 hours a week between you to receive working tax credits. (with one of you working at least 16 hours a week)
If you work 16 hours or more a week then you are not entitled to JSA.
Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Child Tax Credits are based on the income you receive.
You would be better off finding a job for at least 24 hours a week and then you could receive working tax credits.
You can put different scenarios into the benefit calculator here:

to give you an idea of what you would get.0 -
I did some calculations and you'd be worse off (assuming your partner doesnt work)
Really !!!!ed off the other day as I went for a PT job interview having applied for 25 hours as advertised and during the interview they told me that they changed it to a 16 hour role.
If they offer it I can't even accept a second job as you don't know what hours you are doing and they expect you to be almost on call to do overtime to cover for sickness and the like.
24 hours for WTC is stupid in all the time I've been searching I have only seen this one job that was more than 24 hours.Bedroom Tax / Spare room subsidy / Housing Benefit Reduction - It's the same thing, get over it.0
