Arggghhh the joys and lows of BR

It's 1.30am, I'm at the BR court this morning 9.30am..I'm prowling the floor, where has this sane rational person that is usually me gone
Daft soon to be ex husband went BR so all joint debts mainly mortgage came to me hence myself going BR....so my new start did go wrong but as of later today maybe another fresh start is looming.
My emotions go from :mad: about bieng in this position and wanting to eradicate ex OH to:eek::eek: at the thought of bieng in a court to:rotfl::T at the thought of bieng debt free..such a range of emotions that one judge holds my future in his/her hand.
This journey has been made so much easier by the kind folk on here on the BR board...when I finish today I hope it's with a much lighter mood.
I have no more to give financially the BR fees have cleaned me out, and I've had to grub around to find the court fees quickly but I am a survivor not a victim, as the Gloria Gaynor song says I Will Survive...now I'm off to try and grab some sleep..
Hopefully be posting some cheerier news later on today xxx

just remember, your 'new start' hasn't gone wrong at all. It's probably right on track?
It's no use being annoyed because the EX has petitioned BR..thus throwing all JOINT debts onto oneself.
What would the alternatives have been?
Whether one party or the other can, or cannot, afford to pay joint debts doesn't matter to the creditor.
That creditor is more than happy to pursue both parties for the full amount.
The downside of 'joint?'
Which s often forgotten in the excitement...or even, the heat of the moment?
Stay cool, yo'll have a pleasant day.. the sun is shining, and, like today's dentists, the whole process is totally painless. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Hi, just wanted to say i have been in the same situation as you and gone through the same feelings before attending court on BR day. Last September was my new start, a great day, one i have never regreted. The court thing is just a process as you will find out, looking back it was just like paying my car tax at the post office, the paperwork is checked and you hand over the money, prob over simplifying but true. From today this is your new start, celebrate it. Best wishes

Judge agreed with me BR was my best option.
Don't know how I feel at the moment, relieved but just glad it's over.
I'm sitting in ASD& nursing a cup of hot chocolate and eating a chicken sandwich waiting for the ORs initial phone call......think I will head home now, all that worry and panic and it turned out like you all said, fast efficient and very understanding people at local county court, hope the ORs office is as nice.
Thank you all very much for your good wishes and support, I hope I can now give some advice to other folks doing/considering the BR journey, my advice if you need to do it....DO IT....:)
Better get home and wait for ORs call, once again many thanks for all your help...:D0 -
I remember the day I was made bankrupt, nearly seven years ago. I was at an all time low.
But slowly things have got better, it took time but it has happened, it did for me and I hope that It will for you too.
Good luck for the future.0 -

Hi
Well the OR never called so it will probably be in the morning sometime....
It still has not sunk in that Im debt free:D the judge had me in the chambers asking questions but I just stated my reasons for going BR etc, and then it was there that wonderful piece of paper with the court stamp on.
Funnily enough there were 3 of us going BR and it was like a little club, all of us nervous etc then the beaming smile of thank goodness that's all over feeling.
New start in the morning. So Im so tired cant sleep but will soon
Thank you all for your kind wishes x0 -
Congratulations NewStart, you went BR exactly 5 years after me! As you have confirmed, the lead up to BR is much worse than the actual deed. Good luck with your interview.
