Halifax - viewing mortgage online

Just logged into my account to check my balance only to be greeted with the message again.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MORTGAGE CUSTOMERS
Dear xxxxx xxxxx

We are currently carrying out some improvements to the mortgage information we provide online for some of our mortgage customers. This means your online mortgage account information may be unavailable for a few weeks.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. In the meantime, if you have any questions or need help with your mortgage, please call our mortgage helpline, details can be found by clicking the ‘Contact us’ box.

Well it's been a few weeks now with no sign of a change.

I tried phoning up but was informed I'd be waiting at least 15 minutes.

Anyone know how long the 'few weeks' is likely to be?

Me too, I have a compulsion to regularly view the mortgage go down, perhaps it's healthy not to have the access for a while!

Phoned the free phone number (0800 068 9564 in case anyone's not got it) this morning. May just be coincidence but I seemed to get through much quicker when they're paying the phone bill.

The new system should be up and running by the end of this month.
  • I could see mine today.

    Transactions like a bank statement.

Two interest amounts applied this year ASWELL as the annual interest figure.

Didn't see anything about that changing in the booklet. What did I miss?

I'm also with the Halifax! Checking my account today I had the same message as VoucherMan but when I scrolled down my accounts page - the mortgage was at the bottom. Try scrolling down in case it is there. When I checked 2 days ago the mortgage details weren't there.

I'm happy - so far - any way. It even has my monthly interest payment and and my daily interest rate is much lower than I thought. I think I will continue to obsess about the mortgage until it's gone but hopefully the information on the site will be more accurate than my spreadsheets.

    Kind regards

Yeh, Was able to view the upto date mortgage details from early this morning.

Shame you can't transfer funds online into mortgage account from your halifax current/savings account that would be good and handy to reduce your balance.

    Cheers.

    You should be able to.

It may be different for various types of bank & mortgage accounts but I can make payments to my mortgage online anytime.

Initially I set up a standing order in the local branch but it's just as easy to do it online.

If you've got the option (I've got a Reward current account) choose your bank account from the My accounts screen. Then click on the Direct Debits and standing orders tab. Standing orders are listed at the bottom of the page along with an option to set up a new one. I have mine set up to make a payment to my mortgage account on the 20th of every month but if I want to change it or make an extra payment it's simple to alter. Then I just reset it once the extra payments gone through.

    Info here might help.

I didn't think it was possible to made overpayments on your mortgage online .The info online booklet says you have to amend your direct debit or ring up which is inconvenient.
