I need help as soon as possible please.

I have put a potato cut in half in there but is there anything else.

It is in the slow cooker.

    Thanks, Mary

Let it go cold in the fridge overnight and you'll be able to lift the congealed fat off the surface. If you want to eat it tonight, float kitchen towels on the surface to mop up the fat.

The potato trick is for reducing the saltiness of foods btw, not for fat!

The fat should float on the surface, so you can skim that off.

Potatoes are usually used to reduce saltiness :)

Thanks Val and PP, how could I be so stupid? Of course a potato is for saltiness, I did know that but was in a panic. I think I will use just a little of it today and get the fat off the top tomorrow. Stew always does taste better the next day anyway.

    Thanks for your help, Mary

    Hi Mary,

If a dish is too greasy I find it helps to let it cool as the grease rises to the top. It can then be scooped off with a spoon, lifted with kitchen paper or some people use icecubes which draw the fat around them. These threads have more tips that may help:

    Greasy soup

    Greasy bolognese

I'll merge your thread with those later.
