Making Applications for Money?

Hi there,
I've been considering making applications for Android phones, or even applications for places such as Facebook. Does anyone have an expertise in this field of area and is there money to be made? Is it hard to get your products on the market too?
Thank you in advance,
Stephen.

There's definitely money to be made from apps http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/26/us-yahoo-summly-daloisio-profile-idUSBRE92P01C20130326.
Not sure about getting your products on the market - have you considered working as a freelancer developing apps for other people? Won't make you as much cash, but will cut out the hassle of having to market and advertise your app.0 -

It is basically working self-employed on one-off projects for clients.
There are loads of sites like freelancer.com, elance, peopleperhour.
"Employers" set up a project for a particular job and freelancers then bid on the jobs.0 -
The only trouble with writing smartphone apps is that if you create a really useful one, you will have a short time to cash-in before someone else releases an app that does the same job for free.Never Knowingly Understood.
