to move or not to move?

Hubby has a pension of @ 25 years (contracted out) with well known provider....
...changed job, now firefighter. He has opportunity to move pension to fire service pension. Advise appreciated if this is a good idea?

    It can be.

    What kind of pension is it? If final salary then you would need to compare both schemes.

    If it's a money purchase scheme - ie Personal Pension, Stakeholder - what is the current value and how many years would it buy in the firefighters' scheme?
  • they say its @ 45k and would buy 6 years of pension.
    Does that make any sense?
