An 8 inch cake should cut into 8 -10 decent sized pieces so should be enough if you aren't hoping for a lot of leftovers.
As for a message, I tend to stick with 'Happy Birthday' and a name/age or something quite personal...hard to suggest anything without knowing who's birthday it is and a bit about their interests/what they like.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Professional cake sizes say that a six inch cake will do 14 pieces I think and an eight inch around 25 portions however these are slivers of cake like a wedding reception size. I agree I would choose an eight inch cake as for messages you can simply put child's name and age eg "Riley 3" etc or happy birthday on the cake board and the child's name on the cake
Enjoy the birthday celebrations
