Selling a laptop

Hi all,
I have a bit of a dinosaur of a laptop lol
I am having a clearout as we're moving house and just wanted a few extra pounds to help with the move.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5160 which I bought about 8 years ago, comes with the charger and weighs a ton lol.
I have been on a couple of those sites where they offer to pay you a small amount for your laptop, and when I input the details it comes out as offering £0 :rotfl:
Am I just going to have to consign the laptop to the rubbish pile or could I sell for parts?
And also, if I did have to throw it away what is the best way to do this, as I have heard you need to dispose of them safely due to the screen?
Thanks all

There's a few on eBay going for around the £15 mark (including postage), but they haven't had any bids.
If you do decide to throw it then you are probably best taking it to your local dump as they will deal with electricals.0 -
Thanks for this.
Yes, I'd looked at ebay and they didn't seem to be shifting lol. I might as well put it on ebay and if it doesn't sell then I can take it to the local dump.0 -
You could offer it on freecycle / freegle before taking it to the dump. Someone might still appreciate it.0

remember to drill through the hard drive so they cant recover any credit card / personal information from it!0
-
or just DBAN it (google DBAN boot and nuke) which will mean you dont need to destroy the drive.0
