Am I right in thinking that the £10 charge is waived when you've got multiroom? I'm confused as to what I actually pay for now! We've got Sky Movies package and Sky+ and Multiroom.
I don't think your your subscription will go down as Sky+ sub is already taken off as you have movies. Probably best waiting for July 1st and check the Sky website or ring up.0 -
Its now official.
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitaltv/a57991/sky-scraps-sky-subscription-charge.html
"Sky has announced on the Digital Spy forums that it will scrap the £10 monthly subscription charge for its Sky+ PVR service from July 1.
The announcement by the Sky+ team confirms that the Sky+ charge "will be removed for all Sky Digital customers subscribed to any Sky Digital package" at the start of July. Sky HD customers are not affected, as the £10 Sky+ fee is already "waived", and should a Sky+ owner cease subscribing to a Sky Digital package they will have to resume paying the £10 per month charge to continue to access the Sky+ functionality.
Sky told our forum members: "Many of you have said that you want Sky+, but to get it, it needs to be more affordable. We believe that by removing the Sky+ subscription cost for Sky Digital customers, it will mean that more of you are able to enjoy the benefits of Sky+."0 -

Just rang sky the first 2 people knew nothing of this but was persistant as I wanted to change my package and they have confirmed this is definatly happening on july 1st but not everyone has read the current specs sheet yet if that makes sense !!!!If you like what I wrote
please click the thankyou box :T0 -
Just rang Sky Customer Services to ask to be upgraded to sky+ and they advised me that I will be charged £10/month for June and it will then be free from July onwards.
I'm currently on the 4 mix package costing £18/month. They told me that it will cost me £159 to have it installed (£99 for sky+ box and £60 installation). I told that I have been a loyal customer over the last 5 years and that if they could offer me a better deal but they refused. Is it worth spending £159 or is it better to buy a HDD recorder and connect that to my existing sky box?0 -
I called Sky today. I'm on the family package, £21 per month. Told them I wanted to cancel because I now work shifts and miss lots of programs. They offered me free Sky + refurb box and free install and no extra rental charge.
Being fitted on Tuesday.0 -
You need to say the word cancel to one of the call centre staff - they will put you through to the cancellations dept - only they have the power to give you discounts / free stuff - but they surely will if you say you will cancel.
Don't give in with multiroom either, unless you really do want it.
If all else fails and they call your bluff, you have a cooling off peeriod to change your mind anyway!
Obviously if you are still on a contract, your position is weakened somewhat!!0 -
I phoned Sky this afternoon and said I wanted to cancel as my long work hours mean I miss all the shows I like to watch. Playing the innocent and pretending to be clueless about + seemed to work as I had a charming Scotsman offering ether a free refurbished Sky+ box or a new one for £49 with free installation and £20 account credit to more than cover the next 2 months' Sky+ charge until it's scrapped in July. I was happy to pay £49 for the new one and am having it installed next week. I'm well beyond my 12 month contract, incidentally.0

Hello,
There is another thread on this:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=457267
Thank you so much for this. I have been reading the other thread on here about Sky+ and phoned to cancel on Friday. Ended up just reducing my monthly charge from £26 to £18. That was on Friday. The man knew nothing about any Sky+ offers, or scapping of the £10 a month charge.
I have just phoned the 01506 831781 number on here and said I still wanted to cancel, as we are not in when the programs are on. Lady said she would put me through to Cancellations and the man at Cancellations ended up offering two deals. One is a brand new Sky+ box and installation for £49 or refurbished box and installation for free. Free box is under warranty for 12 months.
I ended up going for the free box as I thought if it stops working, I will just phone to cancel.
They are installing this Saturday!!! Cant wait!!
Thanks again!!0 -
Just called Sky to enquire if any offer to return - paying my £10 per month just for Sky+ and it seems a tad pointless. The girl tried to tell me that se could offer to remove £10 charge if I subscribed. I told her I understood that was automatic and she said no "it just depends". What a lot of *$£*0
