State Registered Dietitian (Fire Fox, are you there?!)

Hi again all!

As most of you may know, I am struggling with my health and diet. Although I feel like I am making positive changes and feeling better, I am still a bit overwhelmed.

I remember FF mentioned being referred to a state registered dietitian in one of my threads...I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this.

FF, if you are reading, do I just ask for a referral (bearing in mind my GP is Jekyll and Hyde like)?

Although weight loss is something I'd like, I do feel I may benefit from some professional guidance re this, even if it's just to get some help with working out a 'plan'.

I have had some great help on here and am utilising it with some success, I just think it might be worth seeing if a professional might be able to give me some pointers specific to me!

Thanks in advance (again)!

Yes ask your doctor if they will refer you. Do bear in mind NHS employed dieticians may not be willing to deal with low carb, you may have to go private.

I think you are doing well don't knock yourself, few people change it all overnight it's baby steps. ;) Often that is associated with lasting change.

I did look up to see about private ones and I couldn't find any really close to me (although I believe they may do phone consultations). They were also pricey which I could stretch to at a struggle but thought it might be worth asking for NHS help first.

I don't want to say to my GP I specifically want to request it for weight loss assistance, although that would be nice. Moreso from the health and feeling well point of view.

I shall see how I progress with all of the fab advice from here and then will mention it at my next review.

    Thanks again Fire Fox!
