HMRC and backdated refunds

Hi

Does anyone know rough ideas about how I can work out this?

I've asked HMRC to look back at my income tax payments on PAYE (single person) for 2003-04 and 2004-05 which they've agreed to.

2003-2004 my tax code was 461L and my earnings were £9900. I paid £1056 tax in this tax year.

2004-2005 my tax code was 474L and my earnings were £3089. I paid £313 tax in that year.

Anyone have any idea if this information will trigger any kind of rebate?

Cheers.

What exactly do you mean when you say hmrc have "agreed" to look at this? Is it just that someone in a hmrc call centre has told you it will be reviewed or do you have some proper reason to think this is going to happen, several years after time limit for these years expired? One or two recent MSE posters have found repayments cannot be issued outside these time limits (08/09 is about to go out of date any day now).

Yes, hmrc only got back if within 4 years after the end of the tax year.

Does it matter it they review it? They won't give you a repayment as you are out of time limit as above.
