This is an old Fulton umbrella handle (makers to the Queen).its very good quality and i have hacksawn it off and used the umbrella with a homemade patch on it as a roof for the bird table . its smooth to hold with a bit of the varnish missing in places.

Notice the lighter Pole just above the tray !

Now the umbrella handle has miraculusly turned into a walking stick at no financial cost and recycling half of the pole of the birdfeeder!

BTW this is not an April Fools Post ! ;)

it seems very sturdy - i need to try it out on the hills and it came with its own rubber stopper at the bottom

I forgot it was April 1st today!

I do not think there is much you can do with an umbrella handle.

Turn it upside down and screw through it to attach it to the wall as a hook???

A hook to hang other umbrellas from?
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

I have an idea that i think may work.
I do go walking in the hills sometimes and although i have a retractable ws its handle leaves something to be desired. I think i can make a walking stick out of it with an old tent pole as the base. it need a bit of work but it would be a shame to throw out such a quality handle.
PS the roof idea for the bird table shows promise but i shall be out with my hacksaw this afternoon to finely tune it. Thanks. :)

its amazing what some old wool destined for the bin, can become!

In 1833, Titus spotted a consignment of Alpaca wool stored in a Liverpool warehouse. No one else was interested in it but Titus thought it was worth experimenting on. Alpaca was very difficult to weave but his persistence paid off and he found the wool could be transformed into the finest cloth if woven on a cotton or silk warp. This was innovative and was the key to his lasting success and immense wealth as a textile magnate. By the late 1840's Titus had five separate mills, was very rich, and had the means to improve the lives of his workers who were still living in sickening conditions.

You have a pattern for knitting together bits of broken bent old wood?
