Having to book days when workplace is shut, not Easter Sunday

My workplace is closed Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and NYD. Then for Boxing Day, Good Friday and another bank holiday, its rotated between the call centres my employer operates. Each of the call centres is open for one of the days in the previous sentence.
My colleagues and myself that were scheduled to work Easter Sunday got paid for the day and did not need to book it off.
If we are scheduled to work Christmas Day, NYD or the other BH, we have to book it off. If we don't, we either lose the day(s) pay or go in on your day off. We are told by mid Feb the latest which of the BHs our workplace is open for and as we have 6 week shift patterns, everyone gets the calendar open on Windows and works out if they are working those dates concerned.
It seems mad why Easter Sunday is the only day in the year where we get paid without booking it off. Christmas is more important than Easter. Plus if the other BHs where the call centre is closed, then we could have up to 3 extra days to book when we want.

How is anyone supposed to know the company policy?
Anything suggested will be a guess.0 -
Invariably anywhere that 'pays' your BHs actually forces their use as annual leave - its just the total AL is increased to reflect this
but, again, this is in the contract0 -
Possibly because Easter Sunday is treated as the day stores over a certain size cannot open by law -whereas Christmas day is treated like every other bank holiday and most companies are closed by choice (mine isn't btw) as a day no-one sane would be doing business anyway. Easter Sunday is traditionally considered a holy day (I suppose the holiest day) whereas Christmas day isn't. Christmas being considered more important is a secular thing-from a religious point of view Easter is a far more important day and in say Victorian times Easter all businesses closed-Christmas day was often a working day. The day off for Christmas is a fairly modern invention and the law was never amended to fully reflect this.
As said before though -down to company policy-Why not ask HR ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
