I recently came across this interesting article, written in 2005 by the well respected Land Research Trust, which is chillingly prescient in its description of the crash 2008 and the outturn, thereafter:

The original author is now predicting that we are now emerging from the nadir of the 18 year property cycle and are on the theshold of a decade of rising prices:

Just saying

Good article that. The line that stood out for me:-
'The full thrust of policy in Britain, as elsewhere, is designed to favour the owners of land. The process by which this occurs is camouflaged. Even professional economists fail to deconstruct the twists and turns in the economy to arrive at a realistic appraisal of the outcomes of the legally sanctioned biases in taxation.'
It was ever the way.....get orrrff my land. Its gotta change!

I'd fully agree that change is warranted, however as the latest incentives for home buyers announced in the last budget indicate, there is no political appetite for any change to the status quo.

Indeed, government policy is clearly aimed at accelerating recent improvements in house prices.

    Yep.

Harrison used to be the bears favourite pin-up boy.

They've stopped mentioning him now that he claims we're about to have a decade long boom with prices next peaking in the mid 2020's.
