Changes to paying halifax mortgage by standing order??

Options
Halifax has recently changed its mortgage payment set-up and customers mortgage a/c numbers.
Does anyone happen to know what you need to change your standing order sortcode + a/c number to if you pay funds by standing order? Unfortunately mortgage dept closed easter sunday and i'd like to try and get my s/o for 1 April changed so it doesn't disappear into oblivion.
thanks

There was a new account number and sort code that is in the booklet that came with the letter.

It's too late to change a 1 April SO. You needed to do that a few working days earlier.

Even if it wasn't Easter you'd have left it too late to change a standing order.

I'm sure they'll have some sort of proceedure in place to either return or allocate to the new account details any funds that are received on the old details.

Your standing order won't be the only payment received on old details.

Problem is i don't have the little booklet. I pay by Direct Debit each month but i also send a standing order for additional funds each month as well. The letter i received said that if you pay by DD you didn't have to do anything so my little booklet went off in the recycling bin! Its only just dawned on me that i pay my own standing order as well!

Cancel the existing standing order immediately.
  • I have a Halifax m'gage & have recently been informed of changes to the way in which Halifax are managing it. In my case the changes have resulted in a reduction in my monthly payment so I shouldn't have a complaint but what has crossed my mind is why has a reduction resulted as a consequence of the change when all the relevant factors have remained the same? In other words was I being told to pay to much under the way my m'gage was managed before the changes were implemented?:

How much has your mortgage payment reduced?
What interest rate do you pay and is it a fixed rate or a tracker?
Is this a repayment mortgage or interest only.
When was the last time the monthly payment was recalculated and have you made any changes to the mortgage or made any overpayments?

As you can see so many factors can influence the monthly payment.

But even if you had been paying 'too much', you would have reduced your debt and consequently would pay less interest, so it wouldn't be all bad!

  • Thanks for your response & appreciate what you say. As I tried to explain I am just curious as to how Halifax can arrive at two figures from the same set of facts. I have asked the Halifax but the only explanation they could give me is that it is due the the changes they have made the way in which they manage mortgages.
