Right listen to this one - I wombled a receipt with the following on it
1 x Aussie Mega Shampoo (300ml)
1 x Aussie Colour Mate Shampoo (300ml)
1 x Aussie Mega Instant Conditioner (250ml)
1 x Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner (250ml)
1 x Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Take the Heat Conditioner ...
1 x Aussie Take the Heat Leave-In Spray (150ml)
all 6 are priced at £4.48 in my sada and 3 for £10.
On the wombled receipt only one lot of multibuy came off. Since it was a cash receipt I took it to customer services and explained that I had bought these and that I thought that two lots of multibuy should have come off. He went over to the shampoos and checked said "it is an overcharge ok" and gave me £3.44 refund and an additional £2 in cash as an apology:D
The offending article is the last one on the list - it is not part of the 3 for £10 online but is labelled as such in store:)
Edit: Apologies for me fonts

I had a problem in that store with my tomato coupons - they would only take 1, even chose a young student type SA but she wouldn't take 2!
They make their own rules in there! They always seem to have "just had an email from head office" or "we had someone in earlier who gave us photocopied vouchers". Always an excuse to not allow coupons - even when the till will accept them!

Get your email ready. It is Tesco's mistake, human or machine
It doesn't list exemptions on the sign at CS ... it just says if things don't add up. Plus you have had to waste your time queuing up.
