Replacing a handbag chain/strap

Hi all, I've been puzzling over this for a while but I figured I'd ask the experts! I've had this lovely handbag for a few years but have only worn it a few times because the chain has kinked in a few places and tends to snag on my clothing.
I've checked ebay and etsy for handbag straps but to no avail. I'd like to replace it with something that won't snag on my clothes, but nothing that will detract from the style of the bag.
you can see the hoops in the bag where the clasp of the strap would affix to.
any ideas?
thank you!

I would suggest a browse in a bead shop if you have one local. You could either reuse the clasps or get new ones (lobster claw necklace ones probably).
Would a glasses chain be the right length? You would still need the clasps. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I've salvaged a handbag with a dog leash before
