DRO Questions...

Hello,
I've only recently found out about debt relief orders through a friend of mine and have a couple of questions, maybe somebody here could help? Ok... on paper i believe i meet the criteria for being granted the DRO, but i understand there will be some in depth checks made during the process. My main concern is i have recently (within the last two months) opened a new catologe account online (i have 2 already) Within this time i have racked up almost £1000 worth of debt. I am genuine when i say i wasn't thinking of a DRO at the time, in other words i wasn't commiting fraud taking items i knew i might not have to pay for. I guess you'll have to take my word for that, but will the DRO people?
I also want to say i think that i may have a problem with spending. I have only aknowledged recently, while talking about this with a friend, that often i wake in the morning having forgotten about online purchases i may have made - i impulse buy. Almost like a hazy memory after a few too many drinks. Sometimes things arrive at my address and it's not until i open them that i remember making the purchase. Any advice on who to speak to about this would be appreciated also.

I don't know about DRO's (sure someone will be along soon) but you could try these for your spending problems....

Twelve step organisation based on the AA model...as a long time AA member myself I have to say I'm not overly keen on the "twelve step programme" itself but meeting people in the same situation as yourself is invaluable.“Procrastination is my middle name....well it would be if I could be ar**d to contact Deed Poll."0 -

Hi,
There is no specific question within the DRO application that enquires about recent purchases.
However, a creditor can object to their debt being included within a DRO, and one of those objections could be " obtaining goods or services with no reasonable prospect of repayment".
So no objection = no problem but if it was highlighted then the DRO Unit would look at it and ask you the questions that you have already given answers to.
Perhaps a few months delay may make it safer for you?
