Can't rip CD to computer

Options
I was wondering if anyone can help.

I have an acer laptop with windows 8 and a strange clear.fi media. I am trying to copy a cd onto the computer but it won't copy.

I eventually found the windows media player but that is not working either - "Window media player can not rip one or more tracks from the cd"

I also get the message "documents.library-ms" is no longer working. I think this means that because some file seems to be missing or something, media player can't find where it needs to save it to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Also, if it helps. I have gone to options on WMP and rip music. The area where it says "rip music to this location" is blank. I can't type anything in the box and nothing happens when I try "change..."

    thanks

Open the CD from Windows Explorer.

How many files? Same number as tracks on the CD? Are they all .cda files? Any different file types?

    Is it a commercial CD?

Have you managed to rip CDs on this machine before?

if you want to rip music, look here https://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-cd-ripper.htm#Quick_Selection_Guide

if you want to rip DVD's, look here: http://www.dvdfab.com/

if you want exact cd/dvd copies of disks or make an iso, there are many, but I use: http://www.imgburn.com/

to copy normal files off a cd (not music) use the built in File Explorer (previously called Windows Explorer), (previously called File Manager)

    Hi,

Its is a normal audio cd that I've had for years, but I've only had the laptop a few months so I've never tried anything before.

I can play it fine, I just can't copy it.

If these are your music recitals from school, do you want to copy the cd, or convert it?

If these are not your music recitals, you will get someone probably mentioning the word copyrigh very soon

Thanks. I will try the sites you have suggested.

To help stop the confusion, it is a standard shop bought music CD (now...) which I want to play on my phone.

I had an old sony phone I did this too, and although it played mp3, did not like them as ring tones, so had to convert it to a sony format.

If you know audacity then I would use that, but if you are unsure what to do then this is probably the easiest http://makeownringtone.com/

Thank you for all your help. I now have transferred a CD onto my computer.

My daughter can now listen to music on her MP3
