Advice needed re maintaince payments

Options
My partner and her ex split January 2011 at the time they agreed maintaince of 300 per month 3 children he earns after tax in excess of 1700 per month. Recently due to the eldest leaving college he wants to cut down the money ( fair enough I suppose) however he is now 4 days late paying this months money and has not responded to requests for payment. Looking at the csa calculator we would be better off using this avenue however we are unsure how to proceed and be fair towards him.

Basically what is the best course of action to take give him a few more days to pay/ text him advising all we know or go straight to the csa.

Many thanks in advance

Maybe text him and remind him the payment is due, if he has always paid on time?

If a child leaves education or FE Maintenace is no longer payable once child benefit ceases to be paid, i presume you partner has informed the child benefit office of this change in circumstances?

When did the child leave college? there are certain cut off points for Child benefit during the year and it is payable until the next cut off date, of course failure to inform the CB office may result in benefit fraud.
  • Paid 1 day late last month already texted him once. Child leaves college end of June / July.

    Yes all relavant authorities informed

Would it not be simpler for your partner to just ring and speak to her ex and ask if there is a problem with the payment.
I would not appreciate 'text' reminders.

Suggest that he use the CSA calculator to assess for himself what he SHOULD be paying, and then ask if he would like to try and reduce the paymnet or use the CSA and get the reduction...!!!

My guess is that this may kick him up the !!!!. but give him a time scale, like 48 hours, if you don't get the money go to the CSA...!
  • He was spoken two day after was meant two be paid which is when he suggested reducing payments. Then texted day after this.

Anyway all sorted now did what previous poster already suggested Gave him a deadline two pay and told him how much it would be otherwise all paid now.
