pea and ham soup but with out the peas

trying to get back on track with my shopping budget....

i am just about to boil some ham for sandwiches for the week..... and i also want to make a broth or stew as well with the stock....

my mind has gone blank ( must have something to do with my age ..lol...)

so if i boil the ham and add veg while boiling.. like normal cawl ( stew) it should be ok...?

also if i take some of the cawl.. once its cooked.... could i add rice..... so then i will have another meal.... so it will be like a ham and veg rissotto.....would that work ...?

also trying to think of ideas recipes for £29.99 change thread

Got any lentils? I did "pea" and ham soup without peas but with lentils recently - it was yummy ;)

    hi..jennybb....

no.. we have never had lentils/pulses in the house to be honest...

hubby is an out and out meat eater and anything vaguely resembling a veggie meal he says he doesnt like ....lol....

he also says he is not keen on pasta or rice.... or even hm soup come to think about it...... but he will eat the odd meal like that, ands says he's eating it reluctantly.....lol....

but with the soup and the rissotto style meal.... if they are not to keen then i will eat it....

or if i just put the big lump of ham in the middle of it and tell him he cant eat the ham until he eats the rest.....i am sure he will eat it then...:D

i aqm trying to make the max amount of meals with what i have in the house at mo.....
