I think it's doable but it will mean scaled down portion sizes and no snacks, albeit a diet low in fruit and veg. You're just going to have to accept that energy requirements are the priority for this week, as a one-off it won't harm. The complicating factor is the kids are off from school - a close proximity to the fridge means it's going to be harder to do this!

Dinners: You could get one big batch of pasta, one vat of lentil soup and a casserole out of this lot, supplemented by carbs from your storecupboard - I would cook it and store in the freezer so portions can be controlled. It'll mean eating the same thing twice in the same week but hey that's life sometimes.

Lunch: Cheese / tuna sandwiches / beans on toast.

Breakfast: Spend a small amount on another bag of porridge / 24 pack of generic Weetabix, whoopsied bakery (should be a bonanza at Sainbos early this evening given it's Easter Sunday tomorrow, freeze what you can and again eek it out during the week) products and fresh milk for breakfast and there will be more than enough.

Darling ds stood on the door to reach a cupboard, whole door feel off breaking the plastic surround that hangs the door onto 2 hinges, it magically also has a slit in the rubber seal (can ip only imagine ds again but that's a downside to ds) a quote to fix would be more than a new machine.
Oh has just reminded me of when dd1 was wee and either she shut her friend in a cupboard or the other way round. We were invited to view friend's lovely new kitchen withone broken door :-(

I can do a small shop, basically were going away 8th April for a week, 2 days after booking this the washing machine went meaning I need to replace.

Will be able to do an online shop when I return but for now I have.

    Loaf of bread
    12 small pitta breads
    Frozen peas and sweet corn
    Around 2kg potatoes
    1 bag of pasta
    7 carrots
    3 onions
    2 jars of pasta sauce
    3 passata
    Half packet orange lentils
    2 tins beans
    3 tins chopped tomatoes
    4 tins tuna
    A tub of smash
    Packet sauces for casserole
    1 box suet
    2 packets grated cheese
4 lots of frozen cubed beef
    2 frozen chicken breasts
    Oil and spices
Half packet plain flour (do have baking powder as well)
    Yeast
    3 packs plain rice cakes
    Jar of jam
    4 apples
    Net of satsumas
    Jar of pesto
    Half bag porridge
    Half box cereal
    Dried fruit

I hate being in this situation. It's been a while, I could walk to local sainsburys or lidl with £15 I have saved in coins (jar)

Any ideas and better items to buy to ekk this out

OK, so you could use up the pesto with the potatoes. If one of the packets of beef could be chopped really small (almost minced-like) it could be turned into a bolognese sauce really easily. As there's limited pasta you could bulk that up with oats or lentils and serve it with a Meditteranean-style mash using the pesto & potatoes.

Other people have suggested stews, which I think is a great idea as are the tuna ideas. It'll take some planning, but I think it's doable, particularly if you can get to Mr L to supplement.

    Hope it all goes well.

Re: the washing machine.. ours was only bought in December, today it flooded the kitchen and I mean flooded. OH mopped up, moved the machine and looked at the pipe connecting machine to drain. Totally clogged up with limescale, undissolved laundry powder and dog hair despite filter. Once cleaned it's now fine.

So sometimes it does pay to look at the simple things first. Must admit I would have been on the phone to the manufacturers :o
I agree my son-in-law took the filter off and discovered a five p piece and a disintegrated scarf that somehow had been chucked into the machine and melted and one of the undercup wires from my DDs bra that had gone missing It was a bit of a faff taking the filter out as the previous repairer had cross-threaded it when putting it back on But this repair cost him nowt and the previous one had cost them over £60.00 Well worth checking the filter at the bottom of the machine
Good luck with the next 8 days its doable ..just and try to get a few stock things in when you have some cash coming in, even if its only an extra few cans a week they do mount up.

If I were in that situation, I think I'd probably visit a laundrette for a few weeks until the financial situation had eased slightly. In the meantime, I'd also be checking out Freecycle for a machine that someone wants to get rid of. I realise that may not be practical. Good luck with it.
    Better is good enough.

Will be able to do an online shop when I return but for now I have.

Loaf of bread - toast, sarnies
12 small pitta breads - pitta pizzas using the passata and some cheese and onion
    Frozen peas and sweet corn
Around 2kg potatoes - baked spuds, casserole
1 bag of pasta - with 1/2 jar pesto and some cheese
    7 carrots
    3 onions
    2 jars of pasta sauce
    3 passata
Half packet orange lentils - add 1 onion, grated, 3 carrots grated and a spud grated with 3-4 pints water and a stock cube for each pint. Lovely lentil soup which should last a couple of meals
    2 tins beans
    3 tins chopped tomatoes
4 tins tuna - fish cakes made with the spuds and some of the peas/sweetcorn
    A tub of smash
    Packet sauces for casserole
    1 box suet
    2 packets grated cheese
4 lots of frozen cubed beef - casserole with carrots, tin of toms, onion and any peas sweetcorn left.
2 frozen chicken breasts - marinate in a pasta sauce, sprinkle with cheese and bake in the oven. If you can buy a cheap bag of rice, cube the chicken and it should do you all at a stretch
    Oil and spices
Half packet plain flour (do have baking powder as well) - make some garlic bread/garlic pizza bread to bulk out meals
    Yeast
3 packs plain rice cakes - lunch or pudding with jam
    Jar of jam
    4 apples
    Net of satsumas
Jar of pesto - half a pot stirred in with some pasta and a little cheese. Use the other half with spuds
Half bag porridge - brekky with dried fruit or blob of jam
    Half box cereal - brekky
    Dried fruit

Is there a cheaper option for the washer OP? Free cycle or a second hand option? Can you borrow from a family member?
