The chic cocktail bar at Southernhay House in Exeter has a loyal following; it’s a place where you can relax and feel spoilt all at the same time. It’s got experienced bartenders, a little of the Burgh Island magic of legendary bartender Gary “McBar”, and classic cocktails which are all based on authentic 20th century recipes. That’s why it’s rather exciting to have a cocktail masterclass at Southernhay House for up to four people to be won. It’ll be hosted by senior Southernhay bartender Dan Tripp and “McBar” himself, both going head to head on technique and style with three traditional cocktails: the mojito, the martini and the sling.
What is a dirty martini?
Answer: Includes a dash of the brine from the green olives that adds a salty kick to the drink. Dirty martinis are generally garnished with extra olives, whole, sliced or chopped, or olives stuffed with boldly flavoured ingredients like blue or Roquefort cheese. (source) Lots of variations on this
