i had a little set too with my youngest a week or so ago about what we were having for tea..... and i dont know how we ended up at this comclusion.. but i was going to print out menus like they have in rsturants/cafes ....
with what we are having for tea..... but with a slight choice....so they he could 'choose' what he wanted...
he has gone away with the school today... until friday.... so i was thinking as i have to get my butt back into gear with meal planning..... i would also put my meal planning onto menus..... with a starter.. main coarse and afters....
sounds silly i know..... but it could also make me forcused as well ...lol...
do you know of a website that has got a template i could use.. i am not very good at doing things on the computer....
i can see me now buying those little pads that they take your order on....lol....
thanks..........

I did a similar thing as it was so much easier for everyone knowing what was for tea each day, there was a lot less arguing. I now just write Monday to friday and whats for tea each day. it helps with shopping too. I wouldn't give too many choices for each day though.now mum of 4!!!0

What about using a white board and marker pen? I had one from our local pound shop for dd to practise her ABC on. If you write Mon- Sun, as suggested, and then give 7 main course options so your little one can choose what day they have a certain food. You could also give a list of veggies and stuff to go with the main course each day. So, for instance, if you have chilli con carne one day there would be a choice of baked potato or rice.
:T I think you're very brave taking on this challenge but I think it's also a very good idea. If the kids are interested in what's for dinner they're more likely to eat it."all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0 -
I was watching a supernanny programme a while ago with a fussy eater. She got the parents to write out the menu options on a paper plate - kind of "divided up" into pie segments with the different areas of the meal in each segment. They did 2 plates for each meal & the child got to choose which one they were having. I'm sure a cheapy pack of smartprice/value paper plates wouldn't cost much0

yea the supernanny thing worked well when i watched it,what about a little chalk board or just make one up you only need to header the paper and write it on perhaps get it laminated save you keep printing them off:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I've done this with my OH... not a child I know but had the same problem, he didn't like the fact that he felt he didn't have any input into the meals we eat. He can't cook and unless you like door wedge slices of carrot, isn't that helpful in terms of prep, and I do the food shop as he moans about going to the supermarket. actually, sounding very much like a child lol!. I did a list on the computer with the different dishes that I can happily cook after coming home from work and now when I meal plan for the week adn write a shopping list, he gets the 'menu' out and feels that he can contribute to the meal plan/shopping list by choosing/suggesting meals.
For an ACTUAL child (the OH is 26 lol!) the menu could work quite well if you could laminate it and jazz it up with some clip art 'restaurant' themed pics. Would keep with the theme that you mentioned whilst saving you having to get that waitress pad anyway....Very excited to be marrying my partner in crime for the last 7 years in September 2012 :jNo longer a midlandsfairy... back living in the sunny south!0
