I'll try to not be defensive - and I'll concede that it may not completely irrelevant but it should be. People are people and by focussing on class and what they should and shouldn't do can be make people limit their options unneccessarily
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Of course it should be irrelevant, but we won't reach the point where it is by ignoring the problems it causes.

... it reminds me a bit of the harry enfield sketch with the rich scousers being better than everyone as they have money, except the people im referencing dont, well no more than most at least

Of all the things for me to focus on, I'm aware this is irrelevant to the discussion in hand. But, they were Brummies (who were 'Considerably richer than yow!' - pronounced to rhyme with how).

Used to love 'Harry Enfield and chums!' :)
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

How can someone earning less than £30,000 pay £24,000 plus for childcare? Are you exaggerating?

No, i dont know either. I think there must be help from the inlaws as i cant see how its done either, or theres porky pies being told about a few things, but i dont think thats the case

I don't buy into class, it's something people do to pigeonhole themselves or look down on another person. Just live and let live IMO.

So your friend is doing better than you (in your eyes), you commented on something and he wasn't happy about it? I can see why.

It really doesn't matter where he lives, his income, what he eats or where his kids go to school, it should be about what sort of friend he is?

    Happy moneysaving all.

    It exists, I'm afraid.

This book is a really interesting read on the way class affects health.

No, thats the problem, not that i use it as any sort of measure, but we have similar sort of incomes, the only difference is my wife is a sahm, where theres is a joint income

And yes youre right, it shouldnt be about anything like those things you listed, i just got the impression this morning it was, but not from my end

How do you know that you have similar incomes?

Or you have no idea how much their income is. I know which is more likely.
