Debenhams Two Day Spectacular Thurs 17 & Fri 18 May

What's the deal?
Debenhams two day online and in-store sale is taking place across the UK on Thurs 17 and Fri 18 May. Most, if not all, stores will be open from 8am to 10pm with prices reduced by up to 25% on the majority of items.
Is this really any good?
Most sales are aimed at getting rid of old stock, but Debenhams often uses its to improve its customer base with a temporary price blitz, and as such there are reductions on currently in-vogue goods. Better still, as Debenhams is a department store, it has a wide range of goods.
First things first
If you've had your eye on something that Debenhams stocks, first check to see if it's cheaper elsewhere. Debenhams is a department store so its standard prices aren't cheap; plus some areas of the store, such as cosmetics and electricals, are only 10% off.
My Shopbots: Cheap Online Shopping article will show you how to find the cheapest prices of the goods so you can do a proper comparison, and see if you can make additional savings.
Buying in Debenhams' Concessions may undercut normal stores
As a department store Debenhams has concessions stalls (i.e. shops within the shop, such as Oasis, Coast & La SENZA), which occasionally take part in this type of event. If they are participating, it'll mean you can undercut the regular outlets of these stores by shopping in Debenhams during this sale.
If you have a Nectar Card, don't forget to use it too. For more information on loyalty schemes, read the article about Tricks To Improve Your Stash.

Debenhams sales are 1 every 2 months now!
One thing to note is I guarantee it will be extended to the weekend with "further reductions". If no one went to the sale in the first 2 days then there would be a lot more bargains at the weekend
Whatever is left is further reduced

look out for their early bird tags as well - they often put out a certain number of these on jeans, and other items. If you find the tag on a piece of clothing not in your size, just move it to the same item in your size - they easily come off and feed back onto another garment.
I don't think this should be frowned upon, as they have factored these extra (huge!) discounts into their profits and are just interested in making the turnover.
I live by the one in Clapham Junction, so might be heading in there first thing tomorrow...0 -

Or, if they dont have your size, risk buying the smaller size - wait till sale is over and they restock - then xchange for the same product in your size. Works with their jeans

This isn't a sale! And these 'mega days' or 'spectaculars' to the public are three times a year for two days
It may be extended into Saturday - but there will be no further reductions as it is not a saleNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Debenhams prices an example in a nutshell
£50 3 to 4 months before sale
£70 two weeks before sale
£35 ('half price' during sale)
go figure!0 -
Does anyone know of any codes at the moment for either free delivery or discounts online to be used in conjunction with the reductions. Thanks in advance.:A0

The only way to get free postage is if you have a debenhams card. Gold card customers get all internet purchases free postage. This is the new incentive on the gold card from april 2007. or if you have the classic purple debenhams card its free over £100!!0 -

Sadly there wont be further reductions on any items other than what is currently in the megadays. unfortuantly as a new directive megadays will only now ever be 2 days long as its more profitable for the company due to the amount of money we would be taking on a normal weekend it would actually mean that the company was making a loss not a profit.
PS PREVIEW SHOPPING IS TONIGHT TO BEET THE RUSH FROM 6PM ONWARDS, hot offers can be brought! THAT THEY ARE NOT ADVERTISING!0 -
