once its set up, the sloths are going to going to have to re-learn the flavour of gruel.
And if anyone thinks the current proposed level of universal benefit will remain are soft in the head. the figure is based upon the average Gross salary. They need to cut it till its net; people pay tax on their earnings and the reverse Darwinian experiment has to end. We need the productive to reproduce, not the lazy.0 -

A reverse Darwin experiment? You would think people are not happy to work for a living and struggle when others get housed, fed and are allowed to breed on the backs of them? Seriously, don't blame the people who take part in the game, it's the firm running things at the time, the government, the lawyers, the legal system, the EU etc. Just think of the sick, unemployed, the pensioners etc as the part of the public sector. All paid for by the tax payer. The sick, the unemployed cannot help it. For someone to have a bonus of £16m a year and a huge house, thousands go without a job and are on benefits, for each person on benefits there are are many in real poverty or starving to death in the world. Just because someone is born poor or born abroad should not mean they are not entitled to the best life they can get for themselves.0 -
The Pound has shattered the 1.52 level having soared to 1.5204. Clearly that's a vote in favour of this policy.
(Hey, purch. I think I'm getting the gist of the FX market stuff.)0 -
As an avid Private Eye reader, it always seems to me that whoever comes up with a good adaptable flexible database sytem that can be used by governments will have the world beeting a path to their door in no time at all.
At the moment everybody seems to give the impression that making a successful new IT system is about as easy as pushing Niagara Falls back uphill. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

good adaptable flexible database sytem that can be used by governments that then talks to a myriad of other databases and systems, that is robust, resilient and error free, that is understood by a diverse, expensive, contracted IT resource, all for less than the cost of any potential savings, however justified, make it about as easy as pushing Niagra back uphill.
If you then add on the fact that Ministers and staff can't define what they want up front, keep changing their minds, with less than effective procurement staff easily led by the outsource provider is it any surprise."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Agreed, you make some very good points about the problems, but wouldnt the answer have been to do better consultation with the actual people that have to deliver these things at point of contact instead of just randomly slashing their numbers and adding to the fiasco and joblessness with even more people not spending? Even right here on dear old MSE in the benefits threads is a chap who even had to go round the back of the counter to help the lady with her computer so he could get his claim sorted!!! Yes, its true!! He was an IT tecnician who'd been made redudant!! Woeful !! We could laugh if it wasn't so sad !0

Throw in the fact that a parliamentary term is a mere 4/5 years. Governments don't want to upset things too much in the first and last years. This gives you a couple of years and a bit to implement sometimes major systems on a nationwide scale.
It is little wonder something like NHS pfIT was 2 years behind schedule only 18 months into the programme!0 -
So is it looking likely it will all be postponed yet again?0

So basically you think the UK working people are rubbish, incompetent and useless people.
Why are you so pleased that this is so?0
